In 2001, publisher David Graveen received a license from Universal Studios to produce 45 classic Universal posters in the 11x17 format. The collection was called Universal Masterprints, and included many of the classic Universal Horror titles.
Universal Masterprints were printed on light card stock and were considered the highest quality commercial poster reproductions produced to date. Collectors took notice. They became instantly collectible…and were inevitably bootlegged.
Only the original 45 titles printed in 2001 were licensed as Universal Masterprints. (Original Masterprints have Universal branding on the back side.)
The Universal Masterprints were only printed once, in 2001, and will never be reprinted.
This is an excellent way to own some of the world’s most sought-after posters in a high quality collectible format.
