VTG 11" x 17" Black and White Posters (4) W. C. Fields - Will Rogers - Fanny Brice - Eddie Cantor
These black and white posters have a crease in the middle; they were folded in half when received in the mail many years ago. They have never been displayed. I’m assuming they are reproductions. They are printed on plain white 11” x 17” paper. Please see all photos. W. C. Fields has pencil writing in the left margins of the poster that says W. C. Fields (not a signature-was not originally on poster). I believe I’ve had these posters for almost 1/2 a century.
Fanny Brice
was a popular and influential American comedienne, singer, theatre, and film actress, who made many stage, radio and film appearances but is best remembered as the creator and star of the top-rated radio comedy series, The Baby Snooks Show. In 1908, she dropped out of school to work in a burlesque revue, and two years later she began her association with Florenz Ziegfeld, headlining his Ziegfeld Follies from 1910 into the 1930s. In the 1921 Follies, she was featured singing "My Man" which became both a big hit and her signature song. She made a popular recording of it for Victor Records. The second song most associated with her is "Secondhand Rose". She recorded nearly two dozen record sides for Victor and also cut several for Columbia. She is a posthumous recipient of a Grammy Hall of Fame Award for her 1921 recording of "My Man". Her films include My Man (1928), Be Yourself! (1930) and Everybody Sing (1938) with Judy Garland. Brice, Ray Bolger, and Harriet Hoctor were the only original Ziegfeld performers to portray themselves in The Great Ziegfeld (1936) and Ziegfeld Follies (1946). For her contribution to the motion picture industry, she has a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame at MP 6415 Hollywood Boulevard.

He was an actor whose flawless timing and humorous cantankerousness made him one of America's greatest comedians. His real-life and screen personalities were often indistinguishable, and he is remembered for his distinctive nasal voice, his antisocial character, and his fondness for alcohol.
To many, Fields ranks alongside Chaplin and Keaton as one of the screen's greatest comic performers. Critics have made the distinction that, while Chaplin may have been America's greatest comic filmmaker, Fields was America's funniest man. He died on Christmas Day, 1946-ironically appropriate for a disbeliever who once confessed to be studying the Bible "for loopholes."
He was a vaudeville headliner as a juggler and appeared for seven seasons
(1915-21) in the Ziegfeld Follies
. His starring role in the stage hit
Poppy (1923)
brought him to Hollywood for its film adaptation,
Sally of the Sawdust (1925)
. He emerged as a top film comedian only after the advent of sound pictures, when audiences could hear his distinctive raspy voice. His screen personality-an unlovable but hilarious con man, braggart, misanthrope, and hater of children and dogs-was largely his own. Fields wrote and improvised the action for most of his films, which include comedies such as

Singer, songwriter ("Merrily We Roll Along"), comedian, author and actor, educated in public schools.
He made Broadway stage appearances in "Canary Cottage," "Broadway Brevities of 1920," "Make It Snappy," "Kid Boots," "Whoopee," "Banjo Eyes," and the Ziegfeld Follies of 1917, 1918, 1919 and 1927. He had his own radio program in the 1930s, appeared often on television in the 1950s, and made many records.

Rogers learned how to ride a horse and do rope tricks while growing up on a ranch in what would eventually become Oklahoma. He worked in various Wild West shows in the United States and overseas, and in 1905.
