    Description

This white ironstone platter measures approximately 16 1/8" by 12". It is quite heavy, weighing approximately 4.8 pounds. This is marked on the base with an impressed circle mark that is difficult to make out. I think I can make out the work "croft" for G. Wooliscroft & Co., around the British diamond registry mark. I did find a pattern by Wooliscroft called Alternate Ribs that was registered in 1855. I believe this platter is in that pattern, it has the same motif along the border that I saw on a sugar bowl in the Alternate Ribs pattern. The platter is in good condition with no chips or cracks. There is staining and crazing. There is surface wear and scratches to the center area. There are a few tiny holes in the glaze. It is a wonderful and sturdy piece in an uncommon pattern. Please see my pictures, and thanks for looking!
